He also is a EU-Chartered Financial Analyst holding membership through the Greek State Chapter (EU-ACCA).
Since joining ICONIC Project Finance Advisory in 2009, Yiorgos has transformed his long term CFO role into an international Project Finance and Investment Banking leadership role by undertaking Project, Shipping and Corporate Finance assignments. His specialism includes strong Export Credit Agency trade finance (ECA) to facilitate domestic companies’ international exports, diverse Investment Banking underwriting (capital raising) and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory services. Yiorgos has been acting as intermediary between investors and his corporate clients across the Maritime, Infrastructure, Power, Oil & Gas, Renewables and PFIs/PPPs. Alongside he has established and developed our Corporate Advanced Quantitative Finance (AQF) Modelling Department.
Being highly structured, deeply disruptive and forward thinking Engineering Finance professional, Yiorgo’s track has been flourished with highly successful M&As, Corporate and Project Finance deals mainly in the EU and the UK. Eventually he was offered a seat to the Board of ICONIC as the youngest Senior Business Partner the Advisory had ever seen. Over the course, demanding regions across the EMEA, MENA, CIS, LATAR and the GCC also became part of his global reach as a key player in driving refinancing of major deals.
While working in the sectors of Conventional and Renewable Energy, Public Infrastructure, Water & Sewerage, Maritime and Telecoms, Yiorgos developed superb knowledge of complex spreadsheet financial modelling coupled with commercial and legal aspects of standard services contracts. He currently leads a team of Project Finance experts, presents key finding and reports out to Lenders, Senior Leaders, SPVs, Private Equities and Third-party Funders.
His Project Finance responsibilities also span across long term contract management on behalf of Government Agencies. Oversees infrastructure projects (Airports, Electricity, Natural Gas, Railroads, Roads, Utilities and Structures) and mixed use facilities with a construction value well over USD 10bn (2020), ensuring profits for each party involved and providing professional financial support in the areas of securitization, options (derivatives), insurance provisions and other types of collateral enhancement to mitigate unallocated risk.
Yiorgos is equally responsible for the application of finance policies, budget implementation of budget changes, forecast and improve reporting tools. He builds relationships with key internal & external stakeholders, ensuring Budget & Funding reconciliations to programme change board changes.
Yiorgos received his undergraduate degree from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Consequently his interdisciplinary, post-graduate MS degree in Engineering Economic Systems was awarded from the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering also at the NTUA.
